Make kids smile with TeamUp Uganda
Uganda hosts 1.5 million refugees, more than any other country in Africa. More than half of these refugees are children who have often experienced violence at home or on the road. The risk of abuse, exploitation and neglect is high, especially for children travelling alone. Life for non-refugee Ugandan children isn’t always safe either. Many of them have experienced forms of violence - physical, sexual, domestic, or emotional - in their young lives. TeamUp Uganda works hard to help these children through recreational activities, offering a low-threshold form of psychosocial support. During various sports, games and dance activities, children learn to deal with emotions and stress in a playful way and are strengthened in their resilience. We mainly use movement, so that language is not an obstacle. The activities put a smile on their face and make bad memories disappear into the background. Start your own fundraiser or make a donation and help relief stress for refugee children in Uganda!

What is TeamUp?
TeamUp is a collaboration between War Child, Save the Children and UNICEF the Netherlands. The programme was initially founded to help refugee children living in asylum reception centres in the Netherlands but has since expanded internationally.
The programmes’ various activities are led by trained volunteers and serve to strengthen the emotional resilience of children and provide a sense of stability. The programme is active in Uganda, Colombia, the Palestinian territories, Greece, Italy and Sweden.
